The Ammo Strikedown is designed to handle 5” ammunition between the weather deck at the 01 Level and the
5” Powder
Projectile Magazine at the 2nd Platform, with an optional intermediate stop at the pallet staging area
at the Main Deck.
The Ammo Strikedown can handle a full pallet of powder cartridges or conventional projectiles and is
also capable of
handling depalletized ammunition.
The Ammo Strikedown consists of a Strikedown platform attached to a set of guide rails oriented
vertically on the
starboard side of the ammunition Strikedown trunk. The Strikedown is raised and lowered by a pneumatic
chain hoist and
operated via pneumatic pendant control. The Strikedown has a rated load of 3980-pounds, with a speed in
the up direction
of 9-feet per minute and downward speed of 12 feet per minute.
